At Our Nest, we believe that every child deserves a nurturing, stimulating, and safe environment to grow and learn. Our philosophy centers around fostering each child's intellectual, social, emotional, musical, and physical development through a balanced and Montessori-oriented curriculum. In this environment, we respect each child's unique development and foster their natural curiosity and love of learning. We believe that children thrive in an environment that encourages independence, self-discipline, and exploration. With this in mind, we hope your children can develop at their own pace and become confident, lifelong learners.
Hi parents! My name is Michelle - I'm a mother, wife, and the founder of Our Nest. I own this beautiful home with my husband, Del, and we have two young children, Waylai and Yana. Born and raised in China, I am fluent in Mandarin and English and have loved the experience of learning a foreign language since little. I started to play the piano when I was 4 and realized the importance of starting music introduction early on. I also earned my Master's Degree in Education from the University of San Diego and was later drawn to the Montessori approach in early childhood education. Being a loving mother of two young children also made me incredibly empathetic and relatable to all the young parents out there trying to survive this chaotic yet beautiful journey of parenting.
We offer a multi-age program to children aged from 24 months old to 6 years old in our currently small family daycare. We strongly believe this environment can provide children with more natural and diverse social learning opportunities and help them grow at their own pace. Younger kids can gain confidence and self-esteem through positive interactions with older peers. Older children develop empathy and compassion by caring for and assisting younger peers. Children develop adaptability and flexibility, essential skills for navigating varied social and educational settings. Lastly, the consistent environment reduces anxiety associated with transitioning to new age-specific classrooms annually.
